Guy’s Weekend in the Keys with Captain Spurgeon Putnam

We had a great guy’s weekend with  Nautical Quest Adventures. Captain Spurgeon made the day our way and we were able to do everything on our list. It was an awesome January weekend trip!!

The day started out at 79 degrees. It was nice to get away from the winter cold of North Georgia. It was beautiful with sunny skies and winds were 5 kts. After a safety briefing, Captain Spurgeon took us out to the Christ of the Abyss. This was an awesome snorkeling experience!! After snorkeling and free diving at the reef, we headed to the tiki sand bar for a fresh grilled lunch and paddle boarding at the sand bar. Captain Putnam had already surpassed our expectations and it was only lunch…on to more adventures!!!

After lunch, it warmed up in the mid-80’s and Captain Spurgeon took us on a boat ride through the mangroves where we had the opportunity to ride in the crows nest and see the beautiful tropical scenery of the Florida Keys. This was also one of the highlights of the trip. It was like floating above the mangrove forest. This turned out to be an awesome day!!

On day 2, the winds were kicking up to 14 kts and it was partly cloudy. We had so much fun at the reef that we wanted to go back. Again, Captain Spurgeon made the day our way!! Captain Spurgeon took us to snorkel out to a reef patch. The visibility wasn’t the best, however, we still had fun. We then decided that we wanted to head back to the sandbar and Captain Spurgeon was happy to take us back, where we enjoyed just hanging out and relaxing. We were trying to soak in our last day before heading back to the cold weather.

We cannot express in words just how amazing our weekend adventure was with Captain Spurgeon on the Nautical Quest. The boat was clean and organized, Captain Spurgeon cooks a great lunch and he tends to your every need. If you’re even thinking of coming down to Key Largo, you have to book a trip with Nautical Quest Adventures!!!
